Elle.com A to Zee: Best of Fall

Inspired by Elle Creative Director Joe Zee’s 26 favorite fall trends, we’re bringing you a great trend every day, from A to Z.

For W, we leave the amber glow of our campfires to head out on the prairie at sun-up, riding the ranges of Way Out West.  Western wear has come in and out of vogue for decades, but the key to this look is not to go full-on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, and instead try subtly comingling a few necessary accessories with your cardigans and distressed denim this fall.

Our shoe buyer Denny proclaimed the rider/roper boot to be “absolutely THE sport boot of 2008.” A tough yet earthy aesthetic, these well-worn Golden Goose boots (pictured)  showcase just the right amount of rugged.  A fringe bag is a must for any chic cowgirl, and I love the nuanced treatment of the trend in this Botkier design (pictured).  These Alex & Ani metal feather dangles (pictured) are a gold rush in and of themselves, complementing nature in more ways than one.
