Elle.com A to Zee: Best of Fall

Inspired by Elle Creative Director Joe Zee’s 26 favorite fall trends, we’re bringing you a great trend every day, from A to Z.

Y? Because we like you! Okay, vintage Annette Funicello references aside, Joe Zee anoints Y the letter of Yarn Knits: that chunky sweater-y goodness we can’t get enough of this time of year.

We all know DVF for her iconic prints and wrap dresses, but she’s also doing some snuggle-worthy vests (pictured) and shrugs with her timeless touch.

After writing technical garment descriptions for Marc-wear, the saying “clothes akin to a work of art” feels apt. And when I say art, I’m not talking about a duck pond painting attempting to add ambience to a Best Western hotel room. No, these are highbrow, highly designed duds that you’ll want to ruminate on the “meaning of” with your friends. Peruse Marc’s interpretation of the classic sweater dress (pictured) in our gallery of modern masterpieces.

And after a few months working at shopbop HQ, I’m convinced a scarf is a mandatory part of the company dress code. When in doubt, throw one over any (yes, any) outfit for voilà!—chic.
