Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power, co-founders of Who What Wear.

“We don’t care who you’re dating or what you eat. We only care about what you wear.” So goes the mantra of the minds behind online glossy Who What Wear. Launched by Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr as an antidote to the gossip rags, the magazine puts its full focus on style and beauty with daily updates on fashion’s finest designers and their famous and not-so-famous fans (think celebrity sightings centered on style, and MySpace Muses highlighting everyday girls looking fine). Here, the fashion-savvy duo chat about spring’s floral trend.

Hillary Kerr: There are a few things we can count on every spring: the appearance of Peeps at the grocery store, feeling envious of our interns' spring breaks, and the certainty that a fresh crop of floral dresses will pop up in our favorite stores. Obviously we're here to discuss the latter, so I've got to ask: have you seen the Daughters of the Revolution Butterfly Dress? I'm obsessed with it: it's like the perfect al fresco dinner dress for summer.

Katherine Power: That's your bohemian side coming out! I've got to say, the floral print is just the right size; when it comes to prints, smaller is definitely better when you're wearing a long dress. Also, if you're going for a maxi, it's best to pick a dress that doesn't have a super-conservative top.

HK: Meaning something with either a plunging neckline, like the DOTR one, or a dress with a halter/strapless/spaghetti strap top, right?

KP: Exactly: otherwise it can get a little too Big Love, if you know what I mean. By the way, the Dorris Dress from Twenty8Twelve is very you.

HK: I tried it on the other day! I know we're talking about dresses, but to take a brief detour, I think the Jasmin Romper from What Comes Around Goes Around is so darling. I would totally wear it to Coachella, if I wore shorts—which I don't.

KP: Yes! We're actually featuring that jumper in our upcoming “Top Five” story. Though you digress, I'm actually happy you did, because it raises a good point: rompers let you wear a floral print in an unfussy way.

HK: And I know that's important for you.

KP: It's true. Florals can be a little scary for me; I'm not as girly as you are!

HK: Yeah, but it's easy to make them not seem so sugary or babyish: just add some tough accessories

KP: And chunky jewelry!

HK: …for an Empire Records, ’90s-inspired look, which is very you. Very Chloë Sevingy too! Of course, this begs the question: this season, have you found any floral dresses that you just adore?

KP: Definitely. Gryphon's Boho Dress is my favorite, thus far. I love the sequins—they make the otherwise casual cut a little fancier—and the dress looks so cute with black boots.

HK: You know, Pencey's Studded Dress might be a good option for you—it's a non-traditional floral! The grey background keeps it from looking overly sweet and the cut isn't fussy at all.

KP: Yes, I love this Pencey print. Brian Reyes also made a great, understated floral dress. It's floral for the shy. I could see someone like Rachel Bilson wearing this to an event.

HK: See by Chloé's Floral Dress is sure to be a Hollywood favorite too. I'm crazy about this print: there's something so Dr. Seussian about the flowers. It's not over-the-top in any way, but it's just completely chic and feminine. What about for dressier occasions? Have you seen anything lovely, lately?

KP: The Harlow Dress from Karen Zambos is definitely worth mentioning. It's totally adorable for a daytime wedding.

HK: I think the transparency at the neck is a nice touch. The nude tulle reminds me of all the sheer stuff we saw on the spring runways, though this interpretation is definitely less aggressive!

KP: Agreed. Foley + Corinna made another great option for a summer wedding, have you seen the Cosmic Jungle Twisted Top Dress? But enough with the weddings: how do you feel about florals at night?

HK: It depends on the occasion, situation, and material—of course, of course—but something like Zimmermann's Dawn Wild Floral Dress could be so cute for a night out with friends.

KP: Especially with a little leather jacket or a shrunken denim jacket and some sexy shoes! Come to think of it, that would be a great outfit to wear to an art opening or on a summer dinner date.
