studio style: pa

The shopbop studio stylists seem to wave a chic little wand and voila!—a limp tee and a rumpled pair of jeans transforms into something high voltage. What’s the secret behind their stellar personal style? That’s what we’re here to find out. Meet Pa:

Pa
Suzanne: When putting this look together, where did you start?

Pa: My shoes! It's spring and finally starting to feel like it, so I had to pull out my favorite pair of wedges and build my outfit from there.

S: I love how you used so many contradictory elements (who knew a men’s Fruit of the Loom tank paired with flirty Derek Lam sandals could look so hot?) and it all works. Can you let us in on the secret to mix-it-up style that doesn’t clash?

P: I’m not gonna lie, I can't stand anything that's too matchy-matchy. Don't be afraid to be creative and mix things up a little. Incorporate your old stand-bys with something new. Ready-to-wear doesn't have to be worn the way it was styled—have fun and be original.

S: How would you describe your personal style, and how has it evolved since you started working for shopbop?

P: Fearless and playful, but well-edited. Definitely much, much more daring than when I started five years ago, but refined at the same time. That's what I love about fashion: You watch, you learn, you re-invent, and you evolve.

S:  If you could style any designer’s runway show, who would it be and why?

P: Ooh, hard one. If I had to choose right now, I’d have to say Balmain, my fave designer (one of many) this season!
