What to Wear When You’re Expecting

Blog_mommychicest

What’s a Fashion Forward to do when she finds herself with a proverbial bun in the oven? In honor of Mother’s Day, I turned to my most stylish (and most pregnant) friend for answers.

Once you hit that second trimester, Heather suggests/insists you score a pair of maternity jeans that make you feel sylphlike even as your midsection grows to epic proportions. (Her pick? The maternity version of J Brand’s signature skinny.) Now in her eighth month, Heather is also big (no pun intended) on signature scarves and statement sunglasses: “They’re size-less, and they make me feel glamorous and sophisticated even when I’m running around in oversized shirts and leggings.” (Stock up on this staple in our leggings sale section.) Also in the mix? Flat sandals. (Tory Burch does great ones.). “I had to hang up my heels a couple weeks ago,” she says. “These are cute and a great excuse for a pedicure—too bad I can barely see my feet.”

But let’s not forget the most important part: the baby who’s almost here. How’s she gonna schlep all his/her gear in style? I directed her to our selection of baby bags and told her to choose a favorite. (We both think the best gifts are the ones you pick out yourself.) This LeSportsac (above) is a serious contender: roomy, lightweight, and not the least bit cloying, it's a bag befitting a haute momma.
