Music Muse: My First Time by Kyla La Grange

Welcome to Music Muse, a monthly column edited by Assia Grazioli-Venier, Shopbop style ambassador and founder/CEO of London-based Flypaper Media. In each edition, Assia will profile a style leader in the music world, starting with British beauty Kyla La Grange. Kyla’s debut album Ashes just dropped, and here, she tells the story of her first time on stage.

Kyla La Grange wears a Tocca dress and Tom Binns earrings.

The first time I ever played one of my songs in public, I was eighteen. At school I sang in choirs and school plays/performances, but I never played my own material (which, in hindsight, is lucky, since my songs back then were terrible). I think a part of me was scared that people would laugh at me, but also it was that I saw songwriting as a very private escape. I've never been the most social person. Drawing, running, singing, and writing were, for me, always preferable to going out.

Fall Burgundy by Nicole’s Guide to Style

Good morning, Shoptalk readers! It's Nicole from Nicole's Guide to Style. Today I'm bringing you one of fall's hottest trends: anything burgundy. These J Brand Coated Skinny Pants are the perfect way to add a splash of the wine-colored hue to your wardrobe, and they're also a great alternative to leather pants. I'd pair them with a simple black or white blouse from Equipment, and then have some fun with the accessories. If you go the animal-print route be sure to keep it to one accent piece to keep the look luxe. Is it already cold where you are? Throw on this Mackage Wool and Leather Coat or this Vince Biker Jacket to finish the look.

The Fall Trend Piece: J Brand Coated Skinny Pants.

The Leopard Lady (left): Karen Walker Sunglasses. Tory Burch iPhone Cover. Michael Kors Watch. Alexander Wang Bag. Diane Von Furstenberg Kitten Heels.

The Dark Diva (right): Super Sunglasses. Jagger Edge iPhone Cover. Nixon Watch. Alexander Wang Tote. Madison Harding Booties.

XOXO, Nicole

Fall Leather by The Style Scribe

Today, Merritt from The Style Scribe takes her turn styling a fall essential: leather. See how she does it in both pant and skirt form.

Photography by Natalie Cortes

Hey guys, it's Merritt from The Style Scribe here to show you how I wear my favorite leather pieces for fall. Leather is one of my absolute favorite materials to work with—it's soft, luxurious, and can be easily dressed up or down.

The first look above features my Helmut Lang leather pants and my new Vince bottle-green sweater (love!). Can't beat that juxtaposition of casual and glamorous. This is a look that goes perfectly from day to night and it super comfortable. No muss, no fuss.

Pants: Helmut Lang, Sweater: Vince, Bag: Chanel, Sunglasses: Dior (similar here), Shoes: Kate Spade (similar here), Necklace: Rich x Ruse (similar here), Watch: BCBG (similar here), Bracelet: Chan Luu

The Pleated Leather Mini for Summer & Fall

The fall arrivals are starting to trickle in, but summer's heat isn't going anywhere just yet. We've asked The Stylebook's Krystal Schlegel to style a fall classic, the pleated leather mini, for weather both warm and cool.

The leather Alice + Olivia skirt can be worn year-round just by tweaking your accessories.

I call the fall version a London look for a working girl on the go. I styled it with a classic trench, oversized Karen Walker sunnies, black booties, and a Celine bag. This look would also be great paired with black tights when it gets really cold (Spanx are my favorite!).
