Seen @ Shopbop: Simply Striped

Annie looking French-girl chic in a Three Dots top.

My closet (and my Shopbop My Hearts section) is full of stripes. I lean toward the preppy—lots of navy and white and thick-banded rugby styles—but have never really met a neat set of lines I didn’t like. And I know I’m not alone. One look at these pictures from around the office and you can tell my fellow Shopboppers feel the same.

Team Merchandising sports varied styles—even maternity stripes.

A Ladison tee + stripes = a perfect Parisian pair.

Shopbop Staffers’ Signature Accessories

It seems like every fashionable girl has a signature accessory—a trusty piece that goes with everything and oozes personal style. We snapped photos of Shopbop staffers in everyday looks, and they told us how their signature accessories #MakeTheOutfit.

Name: Bao
Signature piece: SunaharA Malibu bracelet
What makes it special: I am attracted to pieces that tell a story, and this one was a no-brainer. I love this bracelet because it looks dainty but well-traveled, antique but modern.
How it works into your everyday look: My everyday look has bohemian and feminine floral tendencies, so this bracelet does a great job of enhancing the romance of that aesthetic. If I’m wearing neutral or monochromatic colors, this bracelet injects a nice, subtle hint of color.

Name: Katie
Signature piece: Ray-Ban aviators
What makes them special: We’re celebrating a decade together this year—I bought them in 2004.
How they work into your everyday look: I try other, newer shapes, but I always come back to the classic gold-with-rose aviators.

Name: Elise
Signature piece: A.P.C. bag
What makes it special: Perfect size, perfect shape. The design is classic and the color matches my red lipstick perfectly.
How it works into your everyday look: I turned 30 this year and decided I needed a “lady bag” to replace (or at least occasionally stand in for) my trusty, grungy carryall. I was looking for something black to go with everything but fell in love with this baby. I just pretend it’s black and wear it with everything anyway.

Name: LaToya
Signature piece: Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses
What makes them special: I can wear them with everything year-round.
How they work into your everyday look: Typically I use them on my drive to and from work, but they also come in handy when I take a quick stroll to get some lunch.

Name: Monica
Signature piece: Karen Walker bag
What makes it special: I love the chic, classic shape and the pretty pastel color.
How it works into your everyday look: This bag is the perfect size to hold everything I need throughout the day with enough room to stash a clutch for after-work cocktails.

A Fashionable Freeze: Tips for Cold Weather Dressing

Style Director Elle, Kate Spade bag, Carolina Amato gloves, Rag & Bone booties.

There’s cold, and then there’s polar vortex cold. Throw in a few inches of snow, and the what-to-wear conundrum becomes even more difficult. Of course, this deep freeze hasn’t stopped our fashionable style director Elle from looking chic. It all starts with the jacket. “Invest in a warm coat—Canada Goose has some toasty options. It’s like a very chic and wearable duvet cover,” she says. She also advises using a cross-body bag so you can keep your hands warmly in your pockets. For the rest, turn to your tried-and-true closet staples. “Leather pants not only look cool, but they provide additional protection from the cold,” Elle says. “And you can never go wrong with cashmere!”

Seen @ Shopbop: Neon for Now

Bright colors are trickling into What’s New with the arrival of the 2014 resort collections. A bit more saturated and mostly paired back to black—see Jenni Kayne, Versace, Cushnie et Ochs—they bring a pop of color to the dreary days of January. Follow our staffers lead and try the trend! Balance bright bottoms with black booties and a dark top. Or, add a neon bag to a neutral look—Rebecca Minkoff has great options in blue, pink, and yellow.

Seen @ Shopbop: Double Trouble

Nina Ricci ring.

Double rings—stacked, paired, chained, or solidly connected—exude cool. They feel casual and carefree in a way that a single ring doesn’t. Maybe it comes from the confidence of wearing something unexpected, or possibly because they look like fashionable brass knuckles. Either way, this badass style has been popping up at Shopbop and we’re taking notice.

Seen @ Shopbop: On the Edge

The latest fall fashions have a subtly edgy feel—leather jackets with delicate studs, clutches with gothic influences, and a strong influx of moto denim. The key to working this trend into your autumn wardrobe is balance. Anchor your look with a statement piece, and stick to classic basics for the rest. Copywriter Val got it spot on, pairing a casual tee and slouchy R13 jeans with sexy studded Alice + Olivia pumps.

Seen @ Shopbop: Ankle Jeans

For the vertically challenged, finding a pair of jeans that hits just right at the ankle—sans tailoring—is like winning the fashion lottery. I recently learned that Stylist Dokia has a trick to increase the odds. At just under 5 feet, she also had trouble finding the perfect length until she realized something. Jeans that looked cropped on our models fit her like a full-length pair. The style she’s wearing here has an inseam of just 26 inches, fitting her petite frame with ankle-grazing perfection. Problem solved!

Seen @ Shopbop: Single Sole Pumps

Libby wears the Boutique 9 Migs Pumps.

The single-sole pump isn’t just for ladylike looks anymore. This on-the-rise silhouette pairs just as well with distressed denim (our own Libby proves it, above) as it does with pencil skirts and prim pants.
