Alexa Chung for her tomboy-meets-girly style and Kate Moss for her ability to effortlessly mix and match.

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what pieces would it consist of?
Perfectly worn-in skinny jeans, a white tee, a chambray button-down, a leather jacket, booties, and a scarf.

What is your earliest fashion-related memory?
Flipping through my babysitter’s fashion magazines. She would always bring me her old issues, and I would spend hours devouring them.

We Play Favorites: Jennifer & Vince Clothing

Clockwise, from left: Striped Long Sleeve Tee, Dylan Ankle Skinny Jeans, Draped Cardigan with Leather Sleeves, Celeste d’Orsay Pumps.

With as much time as our staffers spend living and breathing fashion, it shouldn’t be surprising that favorite brands start to rise to the top of our individual must-have lists. In this feature, we’re talking about those favorite designers and how they fit into our personal style. This month: Jennifer, who loves Vince.

Name: Jennifer Johnson
Position: Assistant Online Merchandiser
Brand: Vince

Why you love the brand in 6 words or less.
Simple, classic, great-made basics.

What’s your favorite piece from the brand right now?
The Celeste d'Orsay Pumps. They are the perfect go-with-everything shoe. Wear them with a dress or jeans and a blouse. They put a feminine touch on any outfit.

How would you describe your personal style?
I’m classic feminine with a bit of prep. I went to college in the South, so that shaped my style a ton. I learned to never leave the house without fixing your hair and putting on mascara, and that it’s always better to be over-dressed than under-dressed. In my wardrobe, I try to invest in great basics that I can change up each season with new, trendy accessories.

Do you have a style icon?
Olivia Palermo. She does a great job of mixing trends with classic pieces. You can look at a photo of her from five years ago, and the outfit always feels relevant and pulled-together. I also seriously want her shoe collection!

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what pieces would it consist of?
That is tough, but probably a dark pair of skinny jeans, a great silk blouse, some classic pumps, diamond stud earrings, a watch, dainty stacking rings, aviator sunglasses, and because I live in Wisconsin, a tailored wool coat.

What is your earliest fashion-related memory?
When I was little, if I was home sick from school, I always got to watch The Sound of Music in my parents’ bed. I remember watching the scene where Liesl sings “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” in that pink party dress and thinking that it was that most beautiful dress ever.

We Play Favorites, East Dane Edition

Clockwise from left: Western Shirt, Wool Blend Anorak, Quilted Down Shirt, Moleskin Fatigue Pants.

With as much time as our staffers spend living and breathing fashion, it shouldn’t be surprising that favorite brands start to rise to the top of our individual must-have lists. In this feature, we’re talking about those favorite designers and how they fit into our personal style. This month, we have a special East Dane edition: Greg, who thinks Creep is pretty cool.

Name: Greg
Position: East Dane Copywriter
Brand: Creep by Hiroshi Awai

Why you love the brand in 6 words or less.
American workwear stacked with Japanese style.

What’s your favorite piece from the brand right now?
The Wool Blend Anorak.

How would you describe your personal style?
I’m colorblind, so I need to be sure most of my gear works with other pieces. I’m also a proponent of having one item that sets you apart every day. But, if you take that one piece away, the outfit should still look really good. So I try I stick to refined basics, with a few bangers tossed in.

Do you have a style icon?
Ian Curtis, the lead singer of Joy Division. I’ve always been impressed with the commitment he had to work shirts and properly cuffed sleeves.

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what pieces would it consist of?
Oh, no question: An M65 field jacket, a pleated pocket work shirt, brown leather belt, raw selvedge jeans, and some chukkas. Menswear is pretty steady, so that combo will pretty much get you anywhere. I’d also throw in a Toronto Blue Jays cap.

What is your earliest fashion-related memory?
At summer camp in northern Wisconsin, this kid had a pair of Air Jordans with an anarchy symbol he’d painted on the toe. It was so rad. He just owned that look at 13 years old. It was one of the first times I took notice of someone doing it their own way. Never mind the irony of those shoes and that image, I wanted it. I went home and did the same to a pair of Adidas sneaks. My mom flipped out. I couldn’t have worn it as well, anyway.

Perfectly balanced edge and sophistication.

What’s your favorite piece from the brand right now?
I just got the Ryder Satchel. I knew it would be perfect for work—it’s just the right size for magazines! I’m also loving the way 3.1 Phillip Lim is mixing different materials like neoprene, wool, and leather for fall.

How would you describe your personal style?
I’m half Swedish, and I feel like I really defined my look while I lived there, identifying with the whole Scandinavian minimalism thing. I tend to go for comfortable and simple pieces, and make bigger statements with standout shoes, bags, and coats.

Do you have a style icon?
I look to Swedish fashion insiders like Elin Kling and Columbine Smille for inspiration. I’m also pretty obsessed with Emmanuelle Alt and Diane Kruger.

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what pieces would it consist of?
Easy! A loose top, slim-fitting grey jeans, ankle boots, leather jacket, black sunnies, and a big black bag. No jewelry, other than a simple necklace. Bonus info: super-simple makeup. Black liquid liner, mascara, and NARS lipstick in Heat Wave, Schiap, or Barbarella. Oh, and an orangey-red nail polish.

What is your earliest fashion-related memory?
My parents and I went to London for New Year’s Eve when I was 10. My mother took me to the children’s department of Harrods, where I picked out a pair of black leather monk-strap shoes. I felt so fancy!

I just bought the Toggle Coat, and I know it will be the perfect layering piece when the cool fall weather starts to roll in.

Tomboy boho. The bohemian in me loves all the ’70s style coming our way lately, and the tomboy is me is really excited about all of the fantastic men’s heritage brands we are getting for East Dane!

I have three. Garance Doré for her tomboy chicness, and of course because she is a fellow curly-haired girl. Julie Sarinana of Sincerely, Jules for her easy California style. And Sheila Marquez for her beautiful mix of both tomboy and boho!

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what pieces would it consist of?
Only one? Ok, if I have to. I guess I would probably end up in a pair of perfectly worn-in flare jeans, a draped tank or tee, booties, and a moto or military jacket. And I’d top it off with a really fun handbag.

What is your earliest fashion-related memory?
I used to watch The Brady Bunch reruns every day after school, and I distinctly remember telling my mom that I wished I lived during the Brady Bunch time so I could have their clothes and live in their house.

Classic, feminine, and casual.

Do you have a style icon?
Carine Roitfeld—effortlessly chic all the time. Probably because she’s French.

If weather wasn’t a concern, I’d wear shorts of some sort, a poplin button-down, flat sandals, and gold jewelry.

What is your earliest fashion-related memory?
I refused to wear jeans for the first twelve years of my life. I hated denim. I’m not sure what changed, but of course now I wear it almost every day.

Wearable art, made in the USA.

What’s your favorite piece from the brand right now?
The Shirred Skirt.

Undone classic. I feel most like myself in things that aren’t too polished, like slouchy pants and loose tops, but I like to mix in delicate textures and menswear-inspired pieces to finish a look.

I love when people take chances with fashion, so Diane Kruger and Claire Danes are on my list.
