The buzz in the fashion world these last few weeks has seen Sarah Jessica Parker and Halston paired on the pages of many a style publication. The official word came that the star will take on the role of president and chief creative officer for the brand. Add to that the launch of a secondary line, Halston Heritage (coming to Shopbop in February), and spring fashion is coming up Halston.
The brand dipped into its archives for the Heritage collection, reworking the iconic ’70s looks into modern pieces fit for today’s stylish female. Imagine slinky jumpsuits and dresses, caftans and tunics, or simply look to stills from Sex and the City 2 for a real-life visual. SJP as Carrie Bradshaw dons more than one Halston Heritage frock throughout the film, including the white V-neck dress on the movie’s poster.
Launched in 1968 by Roy Halston Frowick, Halston was a mainstay of Studio 54’s favorite patrons—Bianca Jagger, Anjelica Huston, and Margaux Hemingway, to name but a few. The label was reestablished as a fashion force when a group of investors led by Hilco Consumer Capital backed the brand in 2007, rebuilding the name by drawing on its strong luxury heritage and jet-set appeal.
Check back in February to get your own piece of fashion history.
