I’m addicted to MTV’s new reality-drama The City. Main character Whitney’s musician beau Jay makes me weak in the knees with his Aussie accent, and seeing Whitney and her socialite co-worker Olivia Palermo looking flawlessly runway-ready while gossiping around the water cooler at Diane von Furstenberg headquarters has inspired me to inflect my own cubicle with a chicer 9-to-5 style.
I’ll start with an office attire staple: the crisp white blouse. A blah button-down won't do, so I’ll make mine this sophisticated DVF wrap blouse instead. I’ll couple it with a black DVF pencil skirt, and save the pop for my all-important workday accessories.
Who wouldn’t feel like dancing their way to their desk while wearing the Sergio Rossi pumps pictured above? For the long commute and an extra-cool arrival, a signature pair of YSL shades is a must. I’ll keep the jewelry simple yet statement-making: the feathered Thunderbird Cuff by Alex and Ani does the job beautifully. And finally, a briefcase for a modern day Mary Richards: the See by Chloé Ring Around Hobo in marigold. It’s large enough to hold important documents, and sunny enough to make me want to start a “Vivacious Friday.”
