Kate and Carisa cruising Venice beachside.
On my most recent trip to L.A., I spent a lot of time in Venice—my absolute favorite area in the city of celebrities. I started out by going to Erin Wasson's garage sale, where she purged some of her cool pieces AND raised money for an animal shelter. Being a Venice girl herself, Erin was the poster child for the town’s aesthetic as she smoked cigs with her bf and other cool kids outside the skater shop where the sale was held.
The entourage turned out to be very friendly and regretfully told us we missed all of the quality goods, which were snatched up in the first hour of the sale. We made note to get there early next time but did get a chance to chat with Erin, who was looking grungy and gorgeous in an oversized army shirt, fuzzy harem pants, killer sandals, and loads of jewelry. (No makeup and a side bun added an element of total thrown-together hotness.) Erin was psyched that both her jewelry line LowLuv and her RVCA collection will soon be on shopbop.
Next stop was Main Street and Abbot Kinney, filled with tiny mom-and-pop boutiques and organic food stores. Girls were riding around on old-school bikes, sporting a punky style I was instantly inspired by. I even got on a bike and rode down the beach, soaking in the chill life with my temporary roomie, Nightcap Clothing designer Carisa Brambles. She was kind enough to host me during my stay in Venice. Carisa has been living in one of her latest samples: cutout, bleached leggings (coming next month to shopbop!).
