Launched less than a year ago, Leandra Medine’s The Man Repeller blog has already managed to catch the eye of some of the biggest names in fashion. All this week, Leandra will be blogging for Shopbop from NYFW.
In the last two days, I’ve so far mentally identified three key trends that will lend help to those on the quest to join the tribe and become bonafide Man Repellers in time for next fall.
Jason Wu, Ruffian, and (et hem) Kimberly Taylor gave the bowtie a proverbial thumbs up, while Peter Som, Rag & Bone, and Rebecca Taylor offered a lesson in mastering the art of the fur sleeve.

And as for that third trend, another sighting from Rebecca Taylor’s runway paired with one from Rebecca Minkoff’s runway suggested that sheer pants may very well be the next big trend sweeping the fashion scope. In light of such, it must be asked: can we repel while revealing our panties?

Of course we can. Minkoff proved this with a little help from a lacey pattern running through the high-waist silhouette and some seriously ’80s-inspired under armor. And Rebecca Taylor confirmed it by adorning the sheer fabric with small bits of embroidery and a long striped sweater belted at the waist.
Should you prefer to wear a cropped sweater though, this is nothing a little visit to your grandmother’s underwear drawer can’t fix.
