Every now and then, a single color takes the design world by storm, cropping up everywhere from shoes to sofas. This season’s It shade is shaping up to be poppy, a just-right hue that falls somewhere between red and orange. Given its '40s sensibility, it’s not too surprising that I find myself powerless against the sunny shade.
When I snapped up a pair of poppy Alice + Olivia shorts, I didn’t quite realize how much use I’d get out of them. Surprisingly adaptable, they lend themselves equally well to a cobalt Equipment blouse or a striped T by Alexander Wang tee. However, since even the most nimble stylist can only wear orange shorts so often without people noticing, I added a persimmon Marc by Marc Jacobs dress and a Diane von Furstenberg skirt to my rotation. Now, if only I could justify a matching Tory Burch bag…
