notes from ny: alice + olivia

Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet-Eisner with Nikki and Paris Hilton.

A veritable celeb-fest (Nikki and Paris Hilton, Julia Stiles, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, and of course, Stacey Bendet-Eisner herself, to name but a few) replete with mini cupcakes, marionettes, champagne, and candy galore, the Alice + Olivia presentation (at their New York flagship store) was a riot of playful decadence that captured the spirit of their fall collection to a (beaded black) tee. An inspired mash-up of lace, leather, acid-wash, sequins, silk, tough details, faux fur, and of course, the beautifully tailored pants and party dresses this label is loved for, this collection is A + O’s signature girly-rocker style at its best.

As Morgan and Kate both pointed out, fall’s “Material Girl” look (an ’80s-inspired look typified by leggings paired with party dresses) was a big story here. Kate had been looking forward to this presentation as Alice + Olivia is always wildly popular with the SB crowd, and she spotted a lot of (you guessed it) "so shopbop" pieces including a red satin dress, spray-painted jeans, a white faux fur jacket, a frayed white one-shoulder top, and authentic-looking ripped leggings. Looks like all you diehard Alice + Olivia fans will have lots to lose your minds over come fall.
