The bass beats were loud at the Alexander Wang spring 2011 show at Pier 94—the designer never misses an opportunity to let the music beat heavy in the crowd. The show, in juxtaposition to the brand’s signature, was white and bright, with nearly a total absence of black (the only appearance came in a pencil-thin line running through doodle prints). But that’s not to say the collection wasn’t heavy in Wang slang: there is still plenty of attitude in these painter girls. Sexy and chic, blue collar influences ruled this catwalk.

P.S. The after party transformed a gas station parking lot into a carnival. Bumper cars, carousel, moon bounce, skee ball—a light, fun attitude to match the collection.
