Former fit model for brands like 7 For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, and Joe’s Jeans, Paige Adams-Geller launched her own denim label, Paige Premium Denim, in February 2005. Nearly six years later, Paige jeans are still lauded as some of the best in the business. We talked with the designer about the evolution of her brand; the newcomer to the Paige roster, the Jadyn; and finding the perfect pair of jeans.
Shopbop: How have you seen the Paige label evolve over the years? How has it changed? How has it stayed the same?
Paige Adams-Geller: I have really watched the Paige brand develop over the last six years into a brand that offers so much more than just great fitting jeans. The brand was founded on fit, but I am thrilled that our fans see us as a fashion brand known for flattering jeans and great styling. The denim business has changed over the years, having shifted to include a variety of amazing non-denim fabrics and new styles that I so enjoy working with, and I am thrilled we have gotten to expand into that realm.
SB: You started in the denim business as a fit model. How does that unique perspective influence your designs?
PAG: My experience as a fit model has definitely allowed me to help my fans find the fit that is right for them. I worked for the top denim designers for over ten years and learned many of the tailoring and design aspects of the business. This “behind the seams” experience is what helped our brand gain recognition for its amazing fit and flattery.
SB: The Jadyn is a brand new silhouette in the Paige lineup. What was the inspiration behind its design?
PAG: I was inspired to create the Jadyn by the current movement toward more comfortable styles and fabrics. The Jadyn marries the sweatpant look with a trouser style for a pant that’s effortlessly chic. We used our exclusive Tencel blend, giving it an unmatched softness and a slouchy, draped effect for a super cool, casual look. This pant truly can be dressed up or dressed down.
SB: Do you have a favorite Paige cut?
PAG: I’m a bit obsessed with the Jadyn right now. It’s my go-to pant because it’s comfortable and chic when worn casual, and looks gorgeous when dressed up with heels and a blazer. Every time I think I’ve exhausted the looks I can make with it, I seem to find yet another way to work it up. I think I need to design something new just to get myself out of this one!
