Ksubi mood board for their spring/summer ’11/’12 collection.
Rosemount Australian Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’11/’12 kicked off this week (for you in the Northern Hemisphere, those from Down Under are on opposite seasons—their spring/summer is our fall/winter), and we’re there meeting with brands and attending the shows. We caught up with Ksubi designers Dan Single and George Gorrow, who shared their favorite part of the week: “The real fun starts after the shows finish for the day, and there’s plenty to do in Sydney. Hot tip: there are some good bands playing at the Flinders Hotel on Tuesday night.”
While we had the duo’s attention, we asked them about Kolors, a short film created in collaboration with Australian director Daniele Askill. The film premieres worldwide on May 5, as does their latest colored denim collection (coming very soon to Shopbop).
“We were exploring different ways of expressing movement of color when we stumbled across these color-injected tires,” say the designers. “The smoke and the cars felt like a tough juxtaposition to the bright colors and beautiful slow movement and operatic audio.”
In a sneak peek, the brand shared a few stills from the video with us:
