RAFW with RUSSH Magazine: Kirrily Johnston

Kirrily Johnston often sends a global warrior down the runway but this collection saw her moving from “no fixed address” to “happy to be at home.” Inspired by the space around her, the collection (aptly called Habitat) brought soft leather referencing her own couchly comfort and the most elegantly feline Bengal print we’ve ever seen. A base palette of rust and slate was accented with rose-gold copper from Johnston’s long-time co-conspirer Sylvie Markovina and paired with structural swimwear and up-the-calf sandals. From floor-sweeping gowns to super-soft shorts, the mantra here is that it’s time to relax. We all know the KJ woman has an edge, and we saw it here when Rosemary Smith opened the show.
