She’s the Bop: Carol Han of Milk and Mode

It happens every season: a model grabs a chicken wrap backstage at a fashion show, and suddenly a million tweets fly about how "fashion people really do eat!" Well, I guess I'm a "fashion person" and I can guarantee you that many—dare I say most—of us eat, and we eat well.

Gwyneth Paltrow is my favorite example of this phenomena, but there are plenty more, like Carol Han. By day, she consults for brands like Joie and Thakoon. By night and weekend, she scours farmers markets and cookbooks in search of the next great recipe for her popular food and fashion blog, Milk and Mode. I asked her to pry herself away from both of these triumphs to answer this Shopbop questionnaire, Marisa Cooper's "O.C." prom flashbacks included!

FARAN KRENTCIL: So Carol, what's your favorite thing to cook right now?
CAROL HAN: Holiday cookies! I start baking like crazy this time of year, and don't really stop until after Christmas. That and big, warm pots of bubbling stews. My favorite is a veal stew recipe I got from Food & Wine a few years ago. It's a winner.

FK: Please select a piece on Shopbop you'd wear while eating this dish.
CH: The Laveer blazer with plaid trim! It's my friend Kate Ciepluch's awesome new line of jackets, and this piece feels so perfect for this time of year.

FK: Help! I burn water! What's a basic recipe from your blog that I can't mess up?
CH: My Mexican Breakfast (or chilaquiles) recipe is pretty fool-proof. And it encompasses cheese, fried tortillas, and eggs. Can't really go wrong.

FK: If Serena from Gossip Girl and Marissa from The OC both ran for prom queen, who would win?
CH: Serena! She's way more conniving. She'd definitely seduce the guy counting the ballots.

FK: Please describe your personal style in one sentence. This sentence must include the word "crayon."
CH: Classic, clean, loves bright crayon colors! Okay, that was a stretch.
