I have a smattering of weddings on my summer schedule, but there’s one in particular I’m really looking forward to. Not only does it promise to be a fun party, but the bride has an enviable sense of style, too. I can’t wait to see what she does with the decorations, invitations, colors, her dress...
Keeping that in mind, I want to wear something that steps outside the conventions of normal wedding attire. Sure, evening dresses are the go-to (I have my eye on a couple by Caroline Hedaya for the other weddings on my list), but I’m using this occasion to branch into the season’s must-have: the jumpsuit. It’s a fresh alternative to the dress, and with the two I’ve found, I can take it in a couple directions:
I love the slinky sensuality of Vanessa Bruno’s take on the jumpsuit; it just begs for a fetish-worthy pair of caged booties. For jewelry, a languidly draped Fiona Paxton necklace will pair nicely with a House of Harlow bangle and a Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James bracelet (the one with the tiny daggers). All together, it’s a look that’s sexy, yet wedding-appropriate.
But, knowing my personal style, I’m likely to take a more modest route with a sweet, but not the least bit twee, one-piece from Loeffler Randall. Platform sandals by Isaac Mizrahi add a dash of color, while simple, timeless Gorjana jewelry and a metallic Lauren Merkin clutch keep the look classy yet intriguing.
And for the bride? I’ve already picked up a couple Helen Ficalora charms with her and her fiancé’s initials, a nicely personal bridal shower gift.
