Never one to carry a boring handbag, I’ve had my share of metallic and neon purses in recent seasons. But now that shiny and bright are all but default, I need something a little wilder if I want to keep walking the line between turning heads and raising eyebrows. I need haircalf.
While my heart was initially stolen by traditional animal-print pieces from style powerhouses Diane von Furstenberg and Lauren Merkin, a little shopping revealed a world of unexpected subtlety. Haircalf need not be fierce: Club Monaco offers a refined herringbone, and Alexander Wang does wild and wonderful things with simple, luxurious black.
