tribal prints + edgy accents = spot-on summer cool

Summertime and the weather’s, well, rainy, but the lack of sunshine won’t stop summer wardrobes from stifling the all-black looks of fall. It’s the time of year when even the edgiest city girls make a natural sartorial transformation into something a little more bohemian—the sweltering temps and endless parade of outdoor music festivals demand it.

But as Who What Wear pointed out in a recent editorial, Hollywood’s consummate city girls aren’t giving up their punk side so easily. A few have been spotted mixing tribal prints and hard-edge accents, proving rocking the boho trend doesn’t have to mean getting lost in patchouli oil and DIY tie-dye.
How to get the look? Start with a tribal-print dress, like the Brigid Catiis Laura Dress, and then anchor it with studded sandals and a fringe handbag (I’ve got my eye on the Cleobella Alive Fringe Tote). Layer on leather bracelets for an effortless cool touch, and finish the look with Wayfarer sunglasses and a cropped leather jacket or studded vest.

And though the Phish reunion tour may be conjuring memories of your co-ed years, resist the urge to shop your closet on this one and leave the patchwork skirt your college bestie made where it belongs: buried deep in the darkest corner of your wardrobe.
