We Play Favorites: Ellie & Free People

From left: Twill Jacket, Caravan Top, Andra Pants.

With as much time as our staffers spend living and breathing fashion, it shouldn’t be surprising that favorite brands start to rise to the top of our individual must-have lists. In this feature, we’re talking about those favorite designers and how they fit into our personal style. This month: Ellie, who loves Free People.

Name: Ellie
Position: Assistant Online Merchandiser
Brand: Free People

Why you love the brand in 6 words or less.
Mix-and-match boho basics.

What’s your favorite piece from the brand right now?
I just bought the Toggle Coat, and I know it will be the perfect layering piece when the cool fall weather starts to roll in.

How would you describe your personal style?
Tomboy boho. The bohemian in me loves all the ’70s style coming our way lately, and the tomboy is me is really excited about all of the fantastic men’s heritage brands we are getting for East Dane!

Do you have a style icon?
I have three. Garance Doré for her tomboy chicness, and of course because she is a fellow curly-haired girl. Julie Sarinana of Sincerely, Jules for her easy California style. And Sheila Marquez for her beautiful mix of both tomboy and boho!

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what pieces would it consist of?
Only one? Ok, if I have to. I guess I would probably end up in a pair of perfectly worn-in flare jeans, a draped tank or tee, booties, and a moto or military jacket. And I’d top it off with a really fun handbag.

What is your earliest fashion-related memory?
I used to watch The Brady Bunch reruns every day after school, and I distinctly remember telling my mom that I wished I lived during the Brady Bunch time so I could have their clothes and live in their house.
