With the return of bold prints and bright colors, perhaps it’s no surprise that tie-dye (and its exotic cousin, ikat) has come out of hiding. Last seen on an oversized tee I tinted in my parents’ garage, today’s iteration has been given a bohemian facelift, gracing everything from Parker bikinis to Nanette Lepore dresses.
I dipped my toe into the dyed pond with a delightfully quirky pair of Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent flats. When the compliments started rolling in, I branched out to a Torn by Rono Kobo skirt, and now I’m hooked. If it is tie-dyed, I will wear it. Playful, exuberant, and right in line with summer’s hippie-on-a-road-trip tone, I think this is going to be a season lived in full color.
