The fashion world is gearing up for the four weeks in New York, London, Milan, and Paris that define Fashion Month, but first, they’re getting ready for Fashion’s Night Out. Shopbop’s plan is in action (details here), so we decided to ask a few of our favorite designers what they’re doing for FNO. Today, Sonia Rykiel brand ambassador Lola Rykiel.

Shopbop: Why do you think FNO is important?
Lola Rykiel: FNO is a great idea because it raises fashion to a much more cultural level, rather than just a commercial affair. It is no longer about buying nice jeans but rather about dressing up for an evening out. Shops are open, designers are present, and shoppers are buying the same nice jeans in a completely different context. So magical!

SB: What is your favorite item from your fall 2011 collection?
LR: Definitely the Plaid Long Sleeve Dress from the runway. It is perfectly tailored and fits so well. I wear it with the Lola Bag that I love!

SB: What are you most looking forward to the night of FNO, and for NYFW?
LR: I am excited about going to so many events on the same night and checking out all the different venues. I am also excited about the different Sonia Rykiel outfits that I plan to wear throughout the week mixed up with some beautiful jewelry from Natasha Collis, who’s sending me some unique pieces from London. For Paris Fashion Week, I am looking forward to our show, which will be the 1st of October.
