Though forever-chic black is still number one in my closet (and my heart), the NYT’s Sunday Styles slideshow has me reconsidering that underrepresented winter neutral: white. Switching out my usual dark-hued boyfriend blazer for one in crisp white (like this Whitley Kros) feels fresh but still more understated than wearing a color (I can barely remember the last time I wore a bona-fide crayon box color—anyone with me?), while this snow-hued cardigan from Ports 1961 embodies that balance of feminine and fashion-forward I’m always on the lookout for.
The one white item I'm still hesitant to wear in winter? Denim. The olde rule says it's a no-no before Memorial Day (or unless you happen to find yourself in a tropical locale), but I just read an interview with stylist Jessica de Ruiter talking about how great white denim (the pair pictured above are William Rast) looks in winter with sweaters and plaids. I’m intrigued but have yet to give it a test run. What about you: do you do white denim in winter?
