Winter’s Best Boots

One by Philip Simon boots.

Though not generally one to sing winter’s frosty praises, cold-weather footwear goes a long way to thawing my heart. With heritage styling, authentic details, and a refreshing sense of whimsy, this season’s collection of boots is so outstanding that I’m (almost) wishing for the first dusting of snow.

Winter in the North being what it is, a girl can justify a variety of heavy-duty shoes. Firstly, a hardy classic, like Sorel or UGG Boots; secondly, an urbane pair of knee-high boots (my heart and checkbook, as always, are partial to DVF boots here); and lastly, something unusual and a little bit wild to spice up a humdrum December day. My quirky favorites are the all-shearling Viktor & Rolf booties, which give a cold-weather staple an haute-couture spin.
